Michael Joyce thrives on connection — whether with his
clients, colleagues, or community. A self-described “high energy guy,” he brings sharp legal expertise in a down-to earth package. His clients don’t just see him as their attorney; they see him as a trusted guide. “Most people only talk to their attorney once at the beginning of their case and once at the end,” Michael says. “I want my clients to know they can call me anytime. This is a partnership.”
His colleagues will tell you the same. Michael swears that the older he gets, the more energy he has,” says fellow TSR attorney Erik Willer. “He has the opposite of everyone else’s aging social battery.” But his drive isn’t just about staying busy, it’s about advocating for his clients. “He is always willing to explain things in detail, answer questions, and bring a positive energy to the office,”
adds staff member Sara Bacchus. Michael prioritizes trust and open communication in his practice. He makes it a point to check in with every client, keeping them informed and involved in their case. Michael’s high energy and true compassion allows him to be there for all his clients every step of the way. By the time a settlement is on the table, his clients are informed and can trust his advice because they know Michael has been there by their side every step of the way.
Clients can trust that Michael knows their case, how their life has been impacted by injury, and he will lead them to a fair outcome.
Michael not only makes individual clients’ lives better, he also fights to make the law more fair for all injured people. Michael successfully argued that parents who were financially dependent on their late son qualified for Survivor’s Economic Loss Benefits, a first-of-its-kind decision that redefined Minnesota law and has helped numerous families after a tragic loss. The case was more than a legal victory; it guaranteed financial stability for grieving families across the State.
Michael’s impact extends beyond the courtroom. He and his wife are deeply involved in their community, supporting youth sports and helping sponsor local teams, including a neighbor’s baseball team that made it to the Little League World Series. With their four-year-old daughter just starting swimming, dance and gymnastics, they’re eager to find even more ways to give back.
Before law, Michael spent five years as a sports reporter covering the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He even appeared in a Frosted Flakes commercial after captaining his high school hockey team to a state championship. But with his wife’s encouragement — he decided to pursue a career in the law. During law school, Michael clerked for a well-respected judge in Dakota County. After the clerkship he starting working for injured people and that has been not only his profession, but his passion ever since.
Whether in the courtroom or spending time with his wife and daughter, Michael brings the same passion, drive, and heart to everything he does. His clients know that, with him, they don’t just have an attorney — they have an unwavering advocate who stands by them every step of the way.
